Artemis T. Douglas

Artemis T. Douglas is a feminist scholar doing work to demonstrate the lived, material conditions faced by women and interrogate how those conditions shape and are shaped by the intersections of their identities, embodiment, and choices. Her research interests include the political economy of gender, gender and development, media and rhetorical practices, and the ways in which women are forced to bargain by patriarchal societies. 

She is especially interested in demonstrating and disrupting the cycle of isolation, precarity, exclusion, and then death, faced by trans women as well as how systems of race and gender are often co-constitutive, sharing in means of enforcement and justifications despite nuances in the exact ways they dominate humans forced into marginalized groups.
